RULES

1. ESENSAI CHAMPIONSHIPS (the Competition) are organised by Esensai Pole Dance Studio (the Organiser).

 

2. DATE AND VENUE

date: rehearsals and the Competition are held on 28-29.04.2018.

venue: Scena Teatralna NOT, Gdańsk ul. Rajska 6.

 

3. CATEGORIES AND LEVELS

If candidate meets at least one requirement in a level, she/he is fit for that level.

 

ART CATEGORY

Candidates need to have over 18 years (at the day of the Competition) to apply for the Competition (it doesn't apply to stars level).

 

Women solo pro:

  • -    women who train pole dance for over 6 years.

  • -    women who are pole dance instructors for over 2 years.

  • -    women who have won: 1st place in semi-pro or 1st-3rd place in pro (in either national or international competitions).

 

Women solo semi-pro:

  • -    women who train pole dance for over 3 years.

  • -    women who are pole dance instructors for over 1 years.

  • -    women who have won 1st-3rd place as amateurs, or who haven't won 1st place in semi-pro (in either national or international competitions).

Moves prohibited on this level: Handspring Deadlifts, Rainbow Marchenko, Bird of Paradise, any type of somersault, Muscle up (candidates doing those moves will be transferred to pro level).

 

Women solo amateurs:

  • -    women who train pole dance for less than 3 years.

  • -    women who haven't won 1st place as amateurs or any place in higher levels (in either national or international competitions).

Moves prohibited on this level: Handspring Deadlifts, Rainbow Marchenko, Bird of Paradise, any type of somersault, Muscle up (candidates doing those moves will be transferred to pro level).

 

Men

  • -    no division of levels.

 

Duets:

  • -    no division of levels and gender.

 

EXOTIC CATEGORY

You need to have over 18 years (at the day of the Competition) to apply for the Competition.

In exotic category it's compulsory to perform in high heel shoes like "pleasers".

 

Women solo pro:

  • -    women who are exotic pole dance instructors.

  • -    women who lead exotic workshops.

  • -    women who have won 1st-3rd place in semi-pro or pro in exotic/ classique competitions.

 

Women solo semi-pro:

  • -    women who are exotic pole dance instructors.

  • -    women who lead exotic workshops.

  • -    women who haven't won anything in semi-pro or pro in exotic/ classique competitions, or have won amateur exotic/classique competitions.

 

Women solo amateur:

  • -    women who haven't won anything in any level of exotic/classique competitions.

  • -    women who are not exotic instructors and who don't lead exotic workshops.

 

Duets:

  • -    no division of levels.

 

 

In both categories (art and exotic) the Organizer and/or judges have the right to transfer a candidate to different level (higher or lower) if they decide she or he fits there better.

 

4. APPLICATIONS / QUALIFICATIONS

The Competition will take place on 28-29.04.2018.

To become a finalist of the Competition, a candidate needs to qualify.

The qualifications for the Competition are based on application videos.

Each level needs to have at least 3 finalists (solo or duet) to take place during the Competition.

(If there will be 4 or less contestants/duets in each category only first place will be announcement during the finals)

The finalists will be announced not later than 14 days after the end of applications.

 

Application video:

Duration: 2:00-2:15 min.

Video must be done from one shot, from the front. It cannot be a video made from different cuts, unless it's a video from competitions.

You can send a longer video but it will be turned off after 2:15 min.

 

The application time starts on 17.10.2017.

The application time ends on 31.12.2017 23.59

In that time a candidate needs to fill in an application form. It can be found it on the Competition’s web page in „application” bookmark.

Payment is divided into two elements

For solo artists:

  1. 1)    80zł (20 euro) - payment done by every candidate who applies. Candidates who will not make the payment, won't be taken into consideration.

  2. 2)    120zł (30 euro) - second payment done by candidates who qualify for the Competition (7 days after qualifications).

For duets:

  1. 1)    120zł (30 euro) - payment done by every duet which applies.

Candidates who will not make the payment, won't be taken into consideration.

  1. 2)    150zł (40 euro) - second payment done by duets which are qualified for the Competition (7 days after qualifications).

 

If candidate chooses to apply to more than one category or level, she/he needs to make payments for every level or category.

 

5. PRIZES

First three places will be awarded with statuettes or a cup and material prizes/vouchers from sponsors.

(If there will be 4 or less contestants/duets in each category only first place will be announcement during the finals)

The judges can also give special awards as they see fit.

 

6. FINALISTS' OBLIGATIONS

The finalists are obliged:

  • -    to have an ID document on the day of the Competition.

  • -    to sign documents: rules, photo/video release form, waiver of liability.

  • -    to send the name of the artist and title of the song they are performing to as soon as possible. You can send the music file later according to the date given by the Organiser.

IMPORTANT!! The same piece of music (or its similar cover) cannot be used more than once within a category. In case the same piece of music is selected, the finalist who later specified their preferred piece of music must select another piece. It is not considered a collision if a small snippet of the same song is incorporated in a mix. In case of a collision, the Organizer will notify the finalists immediately.

  • -    to arrive at the venue at their allocated time and date for rehearsals as well as the Competition. The Organizer is not responsible for transportation of finalists.

  • -    to warm up and stretch properly before going on stage. Warming up and stretching should be performed before rehearsals as well. 

  • -    not to consume alcohol or any substances that might influence their mental or physical capacities in any way, prior to rehearsal or the Competition. Violation of the above mentioned may result in the disqualification.

  • -    to have sport insurance (NNW).

  • -    to be over 18 years old no matter the country they come from.

  • -    to send all the files (music, video, information about themselves, storyline) and reply to all questions in the time given by the Organizer.

 

7. STAGE / POLES

Stage measurements will be given to finalists in a later time.

Poles will be provided by SUNPOLE.

Poles will have 42 millimetres in diameter, both made of stainless steel and 3,3 meters apart.

From the dancer's perspective the left pole will be spin and the right pole static.

The duets can choose: 

a) both spin poles, 

b) both static poles,

c) one static (right) one spin (left) pole.

The finalist can use any type of grip or wax on the body.

The finalist cannot apply any type of grip/wax on the pole. The finalist can ask the Organizer to apply a little bit of magnesia on the poles.

  • -    Fluidity, control and execution of movement, quality, technicality - 10 points

  • -    Lines, flexibility - 10 points

  • -    Dynamism and strength - 10 points

  • -    Choreography - 10 points

 

Total - 80 points

duets

  • -    Idea and choreography - 10 points

  • -    Connection with audience - 10 points

  • -    Dynamics and strength - 10 points

  • -    Flexibility, lines - 10 points

 

Total - 100 points

 

Score Sheet 4 - EXOTIC Category

duets

  • -    Floorwork - 10 points

  • -    Contact/partnership within a duet - 10 points

  • -    Flexibility, lines - 10 points

 

Total - 120 points

 

NEGATIVE POINTS AND DISQUALIFICATION - FOR EVERY CATEGORY AND LEVEL:

  • -    problems with the outfit, which result in showing the intimate parts of the body: -5 points

  • -    deliberately showing the intimate parts of the body: disqualification

  • -    slip from the pole: -5 points

  • -    fall from the pole: -10 points

 

9. MUSIC DURATION FOR THE COMPETITION:

  • -    amateurs - 2:45-3:15 min

  • -    semi-pro - 3:00-3:30 min

  • -    pro, men - 3:30-4:00 min

  • -    duets - 3:30-4:15 min

 

10. OUTFIT/ PROPS

Costumes, props are not limited or restricted as long as they do not pose a threat to other participants, the public or the jury.

Props must be reported to the Organizer by e-mail at least 2 weeks before the finals. The finalist needs to obtain the Organizer's permission for them.

Props are provided by the finalist, the Organizer does not provide them.

Assemble/disassemble of the props must not exceed 2,5 minutes.

"Pleaser" shoes are only allowed in the exotic category.

Prohibited elements in all categories and levels (including exotic category): thongs, nudity, being topless, nipplets or other erotic outfits, removal of clothing to nudity or for showing mention elements (deliberate nudity or outfit not in line with rules of the Competition will result in disqualification).

 

11. ORDER / PLAN OF THE COMPETITION

Saturday - ART Category:

  • -    women solo amateurs,

  • -    men,

  • -    women solo semi-pro, 

  • -    duets,

  • -    women solo pro

 

Sunday - EXOTIC Category:

  • -    women solo amateurs,

  • -    women solo semi-pro,

  • -    duets,

  • -    women solo pro

 

The detailed order of performances will be given not later than 3 days before the Competition.

The award ceremony will be held after all the performances of the day (and a break).

Every finalist is obligated to be on stage during award ceremony in the outfit from the performance.

 

12. OTHER REGULATIONS

The Organizer has the right to change the rules at any time.

Matters not included in the above rules are decided by the Organizer.
